what is Bubble Tea?

Bubble Tea, also known as pearl milk tea or boba milk tea, is a Taiwanese tea-based drink, which was invented in Taichung (Taiwan) in the 1980s.  The tea is usually mixed with milk or fruit and comes with chewy tapioca balls or other toppings. 

By the early 90s bubble tea became very popular in Hong Kong and Japan. If you visit Taiwan or Hong Kong now you can find different, unique bubble tea stores everywhere.

Today, Bubble Tea is "the unique drink" in Asia and is growing popular around the globe.

We make our bubble tea intentionally & thoughtfully

  1. We use high quality tea leaves direct from Taiwan and brew at least twice daily to ensure the freshness.

  2. We had Professional Training with Taiwanese bubble Tea companies from Taiwan. 

  3. We created our own recipes for our drinks and all of our flavored milk tea contains fresh tea and real milk (or oat milk) instead of the non-dairy creamer powder many stores use. 

  4. We use pure cane sugar, local honey, and stevia as a sweetener to replace fructose syrup and you can customize your sweetness level. 

  5. We feature seasonal specials using ingredients from local farms. 

  6. Our founders come from Hong Kong and the US. This multicultural team brings a greater wealth of knowledge and experience to create a local bubble tea.

  7. We want our drinks to bring people together and lift up our community.

  • Pop was founded as a collaboration between Asian & Western culture & character to create a local-centric bubble tea. By sourcing as many ingredients from our area as we can, while still offering a Fun, Traditional Taiwanese drink for YOU.

  • “Bubble” refers to the bubble foam. Contrary to popular belief, the “bubble” in bubble tea does not refer to the tapioca pearls, it refers to the foamy bubbles on the top when shaken.

  • Tapioca pearls are made from a root vegetable. The tapioca balls are made by extracting starch from cassava root, a long tuberous plant native to Brazil.

  • It's always best to consume your bubble tea as soon as possible.

    Nothing beats freshly shaken bubble tea. Since it contains milk, your drink could also spoil before you get to enjoy it.

    With that being said, drink slowly and cautiously.

    It’s suggested that you slowly and cautiously drink bubble tea as its toppings may choke you. Children under 5 should be supervised while having the drink.

  • “Pop” also translates into part of the Chinese word for “universal love”, which is the name of one of Poppy’s Special-teas.
